Halloween Silent Movie Special: Nosferatu
Donald MacKenzie, organ - Town Hall
Program Info: In Wisbourg, Germany an estate agent (the sinister) Knock dispatches his associate, Hutter, to Count Orlok's castle in Transylvania. The Count wants to purchase an house in Wisbourg. Hutter leaves his innocent and fragile wife, Ellen, in the care of friends while he is away. Hutter's trek is an unusual one, with many locals not wanting to take him near the castle where strange events have been occurring. Once in the castle, Hutter manages to sell the Count the house but he also notices and feels unusual things. Primarily a feeling like there is a dark shadow hanging over him, even in the daytime when the Count is 'unusually' asleep.
Eventually there is a macabre and sinister triangle between Ellen, The Count and Hutter - Nosferatu was attracted to Ellen from Hutter’s photograph of her. The Count leaves the castle hid in a coffin consignment and when Hutter manages to escape, half-dead, he makes his way back to Wisbourg. When Nosferatu arrives, people start dying mysteriously and when Hutter arrives back Ellen appears to be in a very strange state of mind. Will Hutter save her from the evil clutches of Nosferatu?
