Joker Live in Concert
TO Live Orchestra conducted by Evan Mitchell - Meridian Hall

Program Info:
Hildur Guðnadóttir - The Joker

Experience the acclaimed film accompanied by a live orchestra performing Hildur Guðnadóttir’s award-winning score.

Don’t miss Joker Live in Concert—a screening of the film accompanied by a live performance of Hildur Guðnadóttir’s score by full orchestra.

Like many of the more daring films in history, Todd Phillips’ Joker proved a divisive beast on release. Phillips’ film—co-written with Scott Silver and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, and Zazie Beetz—is a gritty homage to Scorsese at his most unflinching, repositioning the infamous Batman villain as a cross between Taxi Driver’s Travis Bickle and King Of Comedy’s Rupert Pupkin.

Phoenix plays Arthur Fleck, a struggling comedian who works a miserable day job as a clown, falling deeper and deeper into a delusional pit that will eventually create the supervillain of comic book lore. The Observer’s Mark Kermode called it “provocative” and “confrontational,” while Metro, The Times and Empire all heralded the film with five-star reviews.

Joker Live in Concert gives fans the opportunity to see the film in a whole new light, with Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir’s Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-winning score played live. This music is central to Joaquin Phoenix’s character in the film. Industrial soundscapes and raw, melancholy strings underpin this vivid, visceral film.

About Joker
Directed, co-written, and produced by Todd Phillips, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix in this character study of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham City’s fractured society. Longing for any light to shine on him, he tries his hand as a standup comic, but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy, cruelty, and, ultimately, betrayal, Arthur makes one bad decision after another that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events.
