Fantasia, Farewells and Fauré
Singapore Symphony Orchestra conducted by Stephen Layton - Victoria Concert Hall
Program Info: Singapore Symphony Orchestra Singapore Symphony Children's Choir, ¹ Singapore Symphony Youth Choir, ² Stephen Layton, conductor Wong Lai Foon, Choirmaster Victoria Songwei Li, soprano* Martin Ng, baritone*
From the faraway nostalgia of Tallis and Vaughan Williams to the heart-breaking beauty of Walton’s musical farewells, this evocative line-up of English and French choral and string tradition connects at its heart to the tender wistfulness of Fauré. His Requiem, that jewel of tranquility, is presented here in a rarely heard version for treble voices, directed by world-renowned choral conductor Stephen Layton. The youngest voices of the Singapore Symphony Choruses are joined by award-winning London-based Singaporean soprano Victoria Songwei Li and baritone Martin Ng.
