Bassoon in the Superscope
hr-Sinfonieorchester conducted by Felix Mildenberger - hr-Sendesaal

Program Info:
Felix Mildenberger, conductor
Theo Plath, bassoon

Solo bassoonist Theo Plath with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony in an unusual widescreen format. The first edition of "Quick & Classy" presents music by film music greats Nino Rota and John Williams - a powerful boost of the new compact format for after-work time. Nino Rota is world-renowned for his more than 150 film scores – including classics by Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti. He even received an Oscar in 1975 for his music for »The Godfather II«. But the Italian has also written numerous works for the concert hall, including a veritable bassoon concerto. And even the film music tycoon John Williams can come up with a bassoon concerto. Both alone offer enough material for an extraordinary musical experience. Conductor Felix Mildenberger goes one better with music from the Fellini film »La Strada«, which made Rota famous in one fell swoop.

Nino Rota - Bassoon concert
John Williams - The Five Sacred Trees
Nino Rota - La Strada - Suite from the movie
