The greatest moments of film music
DR Symphony Orchestra's brass winds conducted by James Thatcher - Musikhuset

Program Info:
The DR Symphony Orchestra's brass winds dazzle for some of the film music's greatest moments.

With the legend John Williams' own solo hornist as conductor, there is a real Hollywood atmosphere and above all: lots of brass.

The film history is full of great moments. And without the warm, golden sound of brass, they would not have been the same.
Whether it's big heroic exploits, evil villains or beautiful panoramas, the thing is clear: a horn solo or a brass band is needed if it is to really make an impression!

Legendary film composer John Williams knows all about it. That's why brass plays a crucial role in his film music, and that's why he has hand-picked some of the world's best brass instruments to play the crucial solos on his great soundtracks.

One of them is hornist James Thatcher, who is the man behind the sublime horn solos in movies like Titanic, Jurassic Park and Star Wars. And now you can hear what it sounds like when James Thatcher himself is allowed to conduct the music in John Williams' own, original arrangements for pure brass - added a splash of percussion and harp.

Forget about strings and chorus voices - here you get the clean, undiluted sound of classic brass at its very best. Look forward to lots of great solos, brilliant sound and the sight of the beautiful, golden instruments when the DR Symphony Orchestra's brass corps takes over the Music House with Williams specialist James Thatcher in the lead.
