Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari
Bundesjazzorchester conducted by Niels Klein - Philharmonie Essen, Alfried Krupp Saal

Program Info:
works by Jeff Beal, Miho Hazama and others

A sensation for jazz fans and movie buffs alike. With the silent film "Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari" (1920) with a new soundtrack by US star composer Jeff Beal, along with a few short commercials from the period 1912 to 1927, the Federal Jazz Orchestra honors the groundbreaking achievements of Jewish filmmakers (including scriptwriter Carl Mayer, director Robert Wiene and advertising film pioneer Julius Pinschewer) in a top-class multimedia mix of silent films, jazz orchestra and vocal ensemble. You can look forward to great advertising for Maggi, Sekt and Aspirin, whose soundtracks were newly arranged by Miho Hazama, Hendrika Entzian, Florian Ross and other important arrangers especially for the BuJazzO. And see for yourself why "Caligari" is still considered one of the most influential films of all time. The music of the BuJazzO is "only" the icing on the cake of a grandiose memorial.
