Les Lumières de la ville (City Lights) in concert
Orchestre National Avignon-Provence conducted by Debora Waldman - Théâtre Antique
City Lights was the longest and hardest undertaking in all of Chaplin's work. At the time of the silent film, he was already very interested in the music played by the orchestra during the first exclusive of his films. This time he amazed the press and the public by composing the entire musical score of the City Lights himself.
City Lights was a critical triumph. All of Chaplin's anxieties seemed dispelled by the success of the film, which remains to this day the pinnacle of his achievement and art. David Robinson
