SR Klassik am See 2022 Independence Day
Deutsche Radio Philharmonie conducted by Alexander Prior - Strandbad Losheim am See
Program Info: Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Alexander Prior, conductor Lauren Urqhart, soprano Günter Haumer, baritone Arcis Saxophone Quartet
“SR Klassik am See 2022” at the Losheim reservoir takes place under the motto “Independence Day” - as a homage to the land of unlimited possibilities.
The German Radio Philharmonic (DRP) will play film music from Hollywood, melodies from Broadway and works by the most important American composers such as Duke Ellington, Samuel Barber, Philip Glass, Leonard and Elmer Bernstein and Aaron Copland in front of the beautiful lake backdrop. In addition, works by European composers with their musical view of the USA will be heard.
The musical direction is held by the young Russian-British conductor and composer Alexander Prior, who already became chief conductor of the Canadian Edmonton Symphony Orchestra at the age of 24 and was recently appointed general music director of the Erfurt Philharmonic.
The American soprano Lauren Urquhart, the youngest member of the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper, and the Austrian baritone Günter Haumer, who is also engaged at the Wiener Volksoper, are the vocal soloists. The “most American” of all instruments is represented four times as soloists with the Munich “Arcis Saxophon Quartet”.
As in the previous year, the Viennese music and theater specialist Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz will moderate the event.
"The highest musical quality, original programs as well as top soloists, in addition to the relaxed, summery picnic atmosphere at the lake, make up the high value of 'SR Klassik am See'." - This is how enthusiastically SR director Martin Grasmück expresses himself. DRP orchestra manager Maria Grätzel also emphasizes the extraordinary concert atmosphere: "All musicians are always looking forward to this major musical event, it is the open-air highlight of the season."
For us, the cooperation with the Saarland Radio and the German Radio Philharmonic is a stroke of luck and has made "SR Klassik am See" an important cultural beacon in the Saarland for years.
