Film+MusikFest: Kino für Kurze
Axel Goldbeck & das Cinematografische Orchester - Rudolf-Oetker-Halle

Program Info:
Short film programme for children, parents, grandparents

"Sherlock Jr."
1924 - 45 min. - With Buster Keaton

"Liberty" (The thing with the trousers)
1929 - 20 min. - With Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy and a surprise film.

When a projectionist falls asleep and thinks he's the most famous detective of all time ... To this day, "Sherlock Jr.", Buster Keaton's shortest feature-length film, is considered his most amazing and perhaps his best. Thus he lets the main part of the film, the projectionist's dream, play out as a film within a film so that the most impossible gags, stunts and tricks become possible for him. A philosophical film about the nature of cinema and a screamingly funny silent comedy at the same time.

A pair of runaway crooks on the run from the police ... In "Liberty" ("The Thing with the Pants"), the comedian couple Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy lustily poach in the genre of the skyscraper film, which was actually Buster Keaton's domain. A wild up and down of lifts and emotions that shows their incredible ability to push a gag to the limit, to vary and exhaust it - with death-defying stunts, shot 70 metres above the streets of Los Angeles, without rear projection and only a little backup, nerve-wracking and paint-muscle-shaking at the same time.
