Bruckner Orchester conducted by Oskar Jockel - Brucknerhaus

Program Info:
Bruckner Orchester
Oskar Jockel, conductor
Jakob Kajetan Hofbauer, narrator

My first case at the Brucknerhaus Linz: The Bruckner Orchester Linz plays the Variaciones concertantes by Alberto Ginastera and Benjamin Britten's The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. Varia ... what? A guide? What kind of secret language is that? It all seems somehow Spanish to me. In any case, I only understand the train station! It would be best if I myself am the conductor and thus come up with the solution to the riddle. It won't bother anyone if I conduct with my magnifying glass. Or do you think my ear trumpet is better suited for this?

Benjamin Britten (1913–1976) - The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra "Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Purcell", op. 34 (1946), composed in 1946 to accompany an educational film produced by the British government and featured in the Oscar-nominated film Moonrise Kingdom

Alberto Ginastera (1916–1983) - Variaciones concertantes for chamber orchestra, op.23 (1953)
