With a Smile - Chaplin Cine concert
Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg conducted by Frank Strobel - Palais de la Musique et des Congrès

Program Info:
Music has always been part of Chaplin's life and is inseparable from his films: from a very young age, he watched his parents on stage, then worked in theatres while learning the violin and cello. Self-taught, he composed symphonic scores (notably for City Lights and Modern Times, which will be played during the concert). It was for his music in The Rampage that he received his first Oscar in 1973. This film-concert takes another look at one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, on stage and on the big screen, through previously unseen arrangements, performances of his greatest masterpieces (The Dictator, The Gold Rush, The Kid...) and iconic and exclusive sequences, notably from private archives.
