"Three hazelnuts for Cinderella"
Fairy tale film by Václav Vorlícek (director) and František Pavlícekk (screenplay) based on the fairy tale by Boena Nemcová with music by Karel Svoboda

Cinderella lives with her stepmother and stepsister, who, however, only treat her like a maid. One day she receives a branch with three hazelnuts from the coachman, which are supposed to grant her three wishes. But for the time being, things do not look good: When the prince gives a big ball, Cinderella has to stay at home. But with the help of her three magic hazelnuts, the girl does manage to get to the ball and, who wouldn't have hoped, wins the prince's heart. But there are still more trials to come: the prince cannot solve the riddle that Cinderella poses to him, and so the unhappy girl flees from the prince's castle. The Prince takes up the chase This film, popular with young and old alike, had its cinema premiere in the CSSR on 1 November 1973. On 19 December 1974, it was shown for the first time in West Germany and has been one of the most popular Christmas films ever since. The music composed for the film by Karel Svoboda became just as popular as the film itself.

A production of the European Film Philharmonic. Film with the permission of the Czech National Film Archive (NFA), Deutsche Kinemathek on behalf of DEFA; music with the permission of Provox Music Publishing.
