Festival Lumière: Organ Concert
Samuel Liégeon, organ - Auditorium-Orchestre National de Lyon, Grande Salle
Program Info: Since its first edition in 2009, the Lumière festival has met every year at the monumental organ of the Auditorium for silent film accompaniment always rich in thrills.
At the time of publishing, the title of the film which will be accompanied on the organ as part of the Lumière festival is not yet known. One thing is certain: it will be a great moment. On the one hand, because this concert is traditionally part of a fascinating retrospective, or coincides with the screening of a recently restored masterpiece. On the other hand, because the organ in the Auditorium and improvisation are ideal for following silent images as closely as possible, offering them an additional dimension, increasing their emotions tenfold in the sweetest as well as in the most shattering. At the controls of the imposing console, we will find Samuel Liégeon, whom the Auditorium de Lyon has already hosted on several occasions. Coming from the prestigious line of improvisers trained by Thierry Escaich at the Paris Conservatory,he is experienced in the art of accompanying silent films, which allows him to combine the two sides of his artistic personality: in addition to exercising his hearing to the highest degree, Samuel Liégeon is in fact particularly sensitive to image, at the same time developing an increasingly recognized talent as a painter.
