In this concert two memorable Russian masterpieces are central. Prokofiev's cantata Alexander Nevsky is based on film music that he originally wrote for Sergei Eisenstein 's masterpiece of the same name . On the eve of World War II, Prokofiev dealt with a historically charged topic: how the Russian hero Alexander Nevsky in 1242 expelled the invaders of the Teutonic Knights. "Arise, free and brave people, defend your beautiful homeland." A highlight in Alexander Scriabin's oeuvre is his grand symphonic work entitled 'Prometheus [or] the Fire Poem'. In it wantedhe bring all the arts together. He also had a light organ in mind that translates chords into colors. A special visual element is added during this concert!

Scriabin's work will be performed again later that evening during the 'Le Guess Who?' Festival.

Jean Sibelius - Night ride and sunrise
Sergey Prokofiev - Alexander Nevsky
Aleksandr Skrjabin - Prométhée, le poème du feu (clavier à lumières)
