Moe's Guide to the Orchestra - APO 4 Kids
Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by David Kay - Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre
Program Info: Auckland’s orchestra invites our furry friends from hit children’s TV show The Moe Show for our first APO 4 Kids concert of 2021. Moe and the whole gang return to the APO to present Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, opus 34: composed in 1946 to accompany an educational film produced by the British government and featured in the Oscar-nominated film Moonrise Kingdom
Composed specifically for children, the concert will engage and delight your pre-schoolers. From the big, shiny instruments to the tall, skinny, whistley-ones, to the funny little dances that conductors have to do at the podium! There’s a lot to learn, and even more fun to be had!
Kicking it all off, kids are encouraged to join a special Show & Tell in the foyer where musicians will be performing and showing off their instruments 45-minutes before the concert. Kids are encouraged to watch, listen, and even have a go at some of the instruments on display!
And don’t forget the walk-through of the orchestra as the musicians play the final pieces of the day.
