The Bear and Peter & the Wolf Live in Concert
Counterpoint Ensemble conducted by Stuart Hancock - National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts, Concert Hall
Program Info: Last year, Weiwuying's The Film: Live in Concert Christmas series was widely praised and received an enthusiastic response from theater audiences. For Christmas 2020, this film screening-live concert combination will feature two award winning animated films, The Bear and Peter and the Wolf.
The Bear, which will be presented during the first half of the program, was written by renowned British illustrator Raymond Briggs and composed by Howard Blake, and follows on the heels of their previous collaboration, The Snowman. The Bear tells the story of a friendship between a girl and a polar bear and the fantasy journey they embark on together. The second half of the program is dedicated to Prokoev's well known Peter and the Wolf. This stop-motion animated film is directed by British director Suzie Templeton, and differs from previous versions in that the moral is more profound and there is a surprise ending. Templeton's version of the story has won numerous awards including the 2008 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. (Written by Pokey LIN)
