The magic of the old UFA cinema hits is unbroken - regardless of whether they come across as dark and smoky like with Zarah Leander, smart and lively like with Ilse Werner or sensual and alluring like with Marlene Dietrich. The soprano Katja Bördner, equally successful on the opera and operetta stage, lends her great colleagues her nuanced voice. Of course, the winner of the Robert Stolz and Heinrich Strecker singing competitions also brings waltz-like Viennese songs to the Rhine - and thus gives the Mercator ensemble the opportunity to present itself sometimes as an atmospheric wine tavern band and sometimes as a smooth sound film combo.
