Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) Charlot soldat
Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) Musique de Cyrille Aufort The Adventurer
This cine-concert program lets you see and hear two films by the famous Charlie Chaplin. In the first part, the short film Charlot s'évade (1917), a film with a particularly sustained rhythm, imbued with the choreographic grace of Chaplin, is set to music by Cyrille Aufort with a score written for the musicians of the Orchester Régional de Normandy. In the second part, the Orchestra performs for the first time the music composed by Chaplin in 1918 for the film Charlot soldat. In an American army training camp, new recruits prepare to go to the front lines in France. Charlot is a poor soldier who is exhausted by maneuvers. As soon as the exercise is over, he throws himself on his cot, falls asleep and dreams ... With this film which has become one of his greatest successes, Charlie Chaplin proves once again how thin the line between comedy and tragedy is. Underlining the intensity of the images, the Orchester Régional de Normandie, accustomed to scores of the seventh art, performs live the tender and humorous music composed by Chaplin himself.
