Film Fest Gent: Videodroom - Kevin Richard Martin 'Solaris'
Kevin Richard Martin - Kunstencentrum Vooruit

Program Info:
Iconic science fiction film with a haunting electronica score

British producer Kevin Richard Martin is the man behind The Bug, King Midas Sound, Techno Animal and Zonal. With his signature sound - distorted dub, dark ambient and deep drones - Martin has been delivering one masterpiece after another since the 1990s. During VIDEODROOM he will perform a unique set live for the iconic sci-fi print 'Solaris' by master filmmaker Andrej Tarkovsky.

The Russian science fiction film 'Solaris' takes place entirely in a space station. A psychologist must investigate what happened to the scientists present. Gradually he too loses all touch with reality. Tarkovsky's phenomenal long player exudes an oppressive and alienating atmosphere. Kevin Richard Martin's new live score reinforces that feeling.

In addition to being a producer and musician, Martin is also the label owner of the digital Intercranial Recordings. He recently released a new five-part series of albums entitled 'Frequencies For Leaving Earth'. Each part was composed, mixed and produced during the lockdown period. In the meantime, he has built a home studio in the heart of Brussels, where he recently also lives. For the first time in a long time you can see Kevin Richard Martin live on stage again. Don't miss it.
