Blancanieves - Silent Film with Live Music
Staatskapelle Weimar conducted by Frank Strobel - Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar, Großes Haus
Program Info: Alfonso de Vilallonga - Blancanieves
Regie: Pablo Berger, Musik: Alfonso Vilallonga
»Blancanieves« is a Spanish-French silent film from 2012 that relocates the fairy tale of »Snow White« to the Andalusian world of bullfighting and flamenco: Little Carmen's stepmother abuses the girl as a maid and eventually even wants to drown her. But Carmen is saved and finds shelter at a circus, where seven short bullfighters and clowns take care of her.
The music for the film comes from Alfonso de Vilallonga, which not only includes the symphony orchestra but also a flamenco ensemble.
