Back on Stage – Celebrating Film Music
City Light Symphony Orchestra conducted by Kevin Griffiths - KKL, Concert Hall

Program Info:
Finally, film music in the concert hall of the KKL Luzern! For months, the City Light Symphony Orchestra had to forego the live play of film melodies. But now we are back and look forward to indulging in wonderful soundtracks with you again - from world-famous classics to solo pearls.

"Like in the movie!" - That was the thought during many a moment in the past months of lockdown. Scenes from more recent reality, as it was often found with surprise, often reminded one of Hollywood films. But last but not least, these moments lacked the sound of the film music, thanks to which we could have imagined ourselves in fiction. After months of absence from the stage, the musicians of the City Light Symphony Orchestra are now drawn back to the concert stage together with well-known soloists, where we want to celebrate the fantastic film music with them under the direction of Kevin Griffiths.

As part of the one-hour concert "Back on Stage - Celebrating Film Music", 80 musicians play excerpts from award-winning soundtracks. Including evergreens like
John Williams - Superman
John Williams - Harry Potter
John Williams - Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens,
John Williams - Catch Me if You Can
John Williams - Born on the 4th of July
John Williams - The Terminal
John Williams - The Adventures” of Tintin

The focus is on the multifaceted film music work of the five-time Oscar®-winning composer John Williams , but also other powerful melodies from
John Barry - Out of Africa
Ramin Djawadi - Game of Thrones
Rupert Gregson-Williams - Wonder Woman

After a long period of rest, the City Light Symphony Orchestra is back to “And Action!” We are also very pleased to announce that excerpts from this concert will be released on CD in winter 2020.

Concert duration approx. 75 minutes. There will be no concert break.

In strict compliance with the recommendations and specifications of the BAG, we developed the protection concept for the KKL Luzern. Please note that it is mandatory to wear a mask from entering the house, during the concert and until leaving the building. Here you will find an extract from our protection concept with the most important points for your concert visit.
