The music of Hans Zimmer & Others
Orchestra - Rheingoldhalle Mainz
Program Info: The music of Hans Zimmer
Unique soundscapes as a large concert with orchestra, choir, star soloists / with music from Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, Lion King, The Dark Knight, Inception and Interstellar
To the film music concert with fanfares: Hans Zimmer's great symphonic soundscapes can be experienced for the first time in a unique concert in the Beethoven Hall. No composer with his overwhelming compositions has shaped the world of film in the past two decades as much as the Oscar, Globe and Emmy winner Hans Zimmer. Visitors can expect a special musical evening in great performance with orchestra, choir, soloists and a light production.
The German-born Hans Zimmer became famous with "Rain Main" and has since helped numerous mega-hits from Hollywood to success and dramatic emotional impact, such as "Gladiator", "Pirates of the Caribbean" as well as "Interstellar" and "Batman". In 2018, Hans Zimmer received his eleventh Oscar nomination for the film score for Christopher Nolan's “Dunkirk”.
The audience will learn interesting background stories, such as how Hans Zimmer changed the beginning of the film "Gladiator" with Ridley Scott and smuggled in a message against apartheid in the local language of the Lion King and told the big Disney group that it was about Butterflies. Hans Zimmer often cited Ennio Morricone as a role model, from whose repertoire excerpts from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time in America" will be heard and seen. Morricone was also a role model for Zimmer in his way of working: he composed the music before rather than after the film was shot, and thus shaped the entire work.
Hans Zimmer is an artist with a social conscience, who composed a work for the victims of the Batman cinema screening in Aurora as well as against climate change, both of which will be heard in the program. "The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others - A Celebration of Film Music" is performed by a symphonic orchestra and choir, as well as the soprano Johanna Krumin, who appears on Gladiator and Ennio Morricone's "Ecstasy of Gold", as well as Nina Nyembwe, Elizabeth Natalie Cunningham and Jean Marc Lerigab, who interpret “Circle of Life” from “The Lion King” - in an impressive show with light installations, laser projections and selected film recordings. THE MUSIC OF HANS ZIMMER & OTHERS - A CELEBRATION OF FILMMUSIC is an unforgettable audiovisual concert event .
