The Kid - Charlie Chaplin
Orchestre de Cannes conducted by Jean Deroyer - Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes, Théâtre Debussy
This concert has been canceled.
Program Info: Charles Chaplin - The Kid Timothy Brock's arrangement
The Kid by Charlie Chaplin and its sequences, which have been part of the collective imagination for a century now, will be screened at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes, accompanied by the soundtrack that the Cannes Orchestra will bring to life on the eve of the end celebrations. year. Treat yourself to a family evening and (re) immerse yourself in the tragicomic universe of this immense masterpiece of silent cinema.
The tone of the film is established by the first card: "A film with a smile ... and maybe also a tear", while another announces the story "The woman whose sin is to be a mother".
A destitute woman leaves her infant in a luxurious car asking the person who will find him to take care of this child. But the car is stolen by two thugs who separate a few streets further. Charlot, a poor glazier passing by, discovers the baby, tries to get rid of this new unwanted responsibility, but becomes attached to him. He is not at the end of his pains…
In 1971, 50 years after the film's release, Charlie Chaplin designed the Kid's score which covers the entire duration of the film. Chaplin teams up with composers for the orchestration of his melodic ideas. We meet winks of jazz, but also touches of waltz and forays in the cabaret, so many different atmospheres to stick to the emotions released by the images.
