This concert has been canceled.
Program Info: Nürnberger Symphoniker Kahchun Wong, conductor Ilia Staple, soprano Maximilian Mayer, tenor Sabine Sauer, moderation
1946 to 2021 - that means 75 years of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra. Seventy-five seasons of full orchestral history with an almost infinite variety of music from past and present. For the festive entrance into the anniversary year 2021, the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and its chief conductor Kahchun Wong present a panorama of orchestral music from the year 1946 to the present day. Sometimes virtuoso, sometimes romantic, sometimes bizarre, but always thrilling. All masterpieces of music for the concert hall or music theatre, but also bestsellers of film music such as the soundtrack to Ben-Hur, which the symphonists recorded for Hollywood when they were still called the Franconian State Orchestra, or the main title to Beauty and the Beast, the recording of which Orchestra received a spectacular Grammy Award. Not to be missed in this selection are Leonard Bernstein's century hit West Side Story and a happy birthday for ourselves!
Aram Chatschaturian - Spartacus, Ballett, daraus: Adagio (1950) Leonard Bernstein - Konzertsuite aus West Side Story (1957) Miklós Rózsa - Ben-Hur (1959) Lee Holdrigde Beauty and the Beast (1991)
