American Night
ONPL brass and percussion ensemble - Centres des Congrès
Program Info: All those who heard So Brass during the concert break in November 2019 know how communicative and energetic this group of 12 ONPL musicians is. For this evening, they are taking us on a transatlantic crossing. From Samuel Barber and his very lyrical Adagio , passing through the film scores of John Williams and the jazzy sounds of Gershwin and Ellington, American music is a journey tinged with great plains, bustling cities, dreams and cinema. This American dream echoes that of the exiled composers who found a Promised Land in America. Thus, in the second part of the program, the evocation of the lost country at Dvorak mixes with the jazz of Chick Corea, the music of the unclassifiable Frank Zappa and the folklore of Irish and Yiddish tunes . Joyful and festive, tinged with nostalgia at times, this music without borders tells us with humor and derision the history of men.
Why choose this concert? Because those who were lucky enough to hear the brass and percussion ensemble during the Concert Break in November 2019, know that it is absolutely necessary to return!
