A Midsummer Night's Dream
Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir conducted by Jan Kučera - Kongresové centrum Praha (Prague Congress Centre)

Program Info:
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the world-famous and many award-winning puppet film A Midsummer Night s Dream by famous painter and sculptor Jiří Trnka, JV Classics has prepared its renewed premiere with live accompaniment by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir led by Jan Kučera.

The role of narrator will be taken over by the popular actor Petr Štěpánek, who will personally retell Kainar's poetic text based on W. Shakespeare's classics of the same name. The spoken word is perfectly connected with live music on stage in order to add another enchanting dimension to Trnka's immortal and still fresh masterpiece.

From its beginnings, the project has been a huge challenge for the entire large implementation team. Very demanding preparations included the modification of the scores of the famous film music maker Václav Trojan as well as the adaptation of the original film for screening with live music. As a result, however, it is a completely unique and comprehensive experience of one of the most important works of Czech cinema. At the same time, our great wish and goal has always been to convey mainly to children the forgotten beauty and poetics of the genius Jiří Trnka in conjunction with the masters of the word - Shakespeare, Kainar and Brdečka, to show them that even in today's computer animation and other endless possibilities , this wonderful work has something to offer and pass on to them.

The project will also create a unique studio recording.
