No composer with his overwhelming compositions has shaped the world of film in the past two decades as much as the Oscar, Globe and Emmy winner Hans Zimmer. Visitors can look forward to a special musical afternoon in great performance with orchestra, choir, soloists and a light production.
The German-born Hans Zimmer became famous with "Rain Man" and has since helped numerous mega hits from Hollywood to be successful and have a dramatic emotional impact, including "Gladiator", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Interstellar" and "Batman". In 2018, Hans Zimmer received his eleventh Oscar nomination for the film score for Christopher Nolan's “Dunkirk”.
The audience will learn interesting background stories, such as how Hans Zimmer completely changed the beginning of Gladiator with Ridley Scott and smuggled in a message against apartheid in the local language of the Lion King and told the big Disney group that it was about butterflies. Hans Zimmer often mentioned Ennio Morricone as a role model, from whose repertoire, inter alia, excerpts from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time in America" will be heard and seen.
Morricone was a role model for Zimmer: he composed the music before rather than after filming, and thus shaped the entire work. For example, Zimmer changed the beginning of Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" film, whereupon the world-famous director moved into the studio at Hans Zimmer.
Hans Zimmer is an artist with a social conscience who composed a song for the victims of the Batman cinema screening in Aurora as well as against climate change, both of which will be heard in the program.
"The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others - A Celebration of Film Music" will be performed by a symphonic orchestra and choir, as well as the soprano Johanna Krumin, who will appear with Gladiator and Ennio Morricone's "Ecstasy of Gold" - in an impressive show with light installations and laser projections as well as selected film recordings.
"The Music of Hans Zimmer & Others - A Celebration of Film Music" is an unforgettable audiovisual concert event.
