Discover how the kaleidoscopic dissonances and tripped-out textures of 20th-century Polish classical music ended up inspiring some of the boldest sounds in 21st-century culture.

Richard Tognetti and the white-hot players of his Australian Chamber Orchestra bring music by pop-cultural icons Jonny Greenwood and Bryce Dessner face-to-face with that of Szymanowski, Penderecki and Lutosławski in a show that’s been described as ‘a mind-bending, ear twisting, richly rewarding musical experience like few others’ (The Australian).

No music exists in a vacuum – so prepare for a weird and wonderful journey as the worlds of neo-classicism, Polish folk and the avant garde collide with contemporary cult classics in a dizzying, mesmerising and energising concert experience typical of our International Associate Ensemble.

Programme
Witold Lutosławski - Overture for Strings
Bryce Dessner Réponse Lutosławski
Jonny Greenwood - Popcorn Superhet Receiver
Krzysztof Penderecki - ‘Aria’ from Three Pieces in Baroque Style
String Quartet No 1
Jonny Greenwood - Selected movements from the film There Will Be Blood: Suite
Karol Szymanowski - String Quartet No 2 (arr Tognetti)
