Cinema and Jazz
State Chamber Orchestra of Jazz Music named after Oleg Lundstrem conducted by Boris Frumkin - Moscow International Performing Arts Center, Theater Hall
Program Info: Jazz and cinema ... These concepts are connected with each other by historical and creative ties. As soon as the “great dumb” spoke in 1927, composers, arrangers, musicians, who composed many first-class orchestras, rushed from Broadway to Hollywood. And the first sound film was called very symbolically - “Jazz Singer”. It was in Hollywood that a “mighty bunch” of composers were formed, whose music was the gold mine for the “dream factory”. It was from the screen that many musicals, musical comedies, biography films of jazzmen, tapes, voiced by jazz and its stars came.
The echo of this beautiful music, the ageless jazz classics, the masterpieces of the musical - all this awaits the audience in a luxurious program called “Cinema and Jazz” with the participation of the legendary Oleg Lundstrem jazz music orchestra, a collective that has long been considered the cultural brand of Russia.
“We are faithful to jazz ... We strive to make jazz an important component of a person’s spiritual life,” said Oleg Lundstrem. And this credo of the orchestra, headed since 2007 by Boris Frumkin, remains unchanged, as well as the phenomenal skill of musicians.
