The concert of the most famous film themes composed by Wojciech Kilar will be enrich by the screening of film fragments and the most famous film frames on the grand cinema screen.
During the Krakow concert, famous orchestral suites will be presented from such cinematic works as: "Pan Tadeusz", "Promised Land", "Adventures of Mr. Michał", "The Leper", "Vengeance", "Chronicle of love crashes". The program of the concert will also include new songs from the films "Faustyna", "Sami swoi" and the iconic "Cruise". In addition to the classics of Polish cinema, works will be made that are the result of Kilar's international collaboration with European and Hollywood labels: "Pianist", "Dracula" "The Ninth Gate", "King of the Last Days", "Portrait of a Lady".
Wojciech Kilar, as the creator of musical illustrations for films, went down in the history of not only Polish cinematography, but also world cinema. He composed soundtracks for over a hundred full-length movies. He collaborated with the greatest cinema celebrities: Andrzej Wajda, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Roman Polański, Krzysztof Zanussi, Jane Campion and Francisco Ford Coppola. He received the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music (2003) and Orła - the Polish Film Academy Award in the Best Music and Caesar category in the Best Music Film category (2003) for the musical setting for the Pianist.
On the list of the greatest Polish hits of Kilar, significant positions take the dances: unforgettable battles with Jerzy Hoffman's "Trędowaty" and Andrzej Wajda's "Promised Land" or the orchestra's mazurka from "Zemsta". No less so are the tango from Janusz Majewski's "Jealousy and medicine" or the extremely solemn polonaise from "Pan Tadeusz" by Andrzej Wajda.
"His compositions are proof of incredible versatility, talent and understanding of the role of music in the film. Kilar could paint any musical situation, subtly sketch the whole range of emotions. I am close to his mysticism and approach to music "- concludes Maciej Sztor, who conducts the concert.
