Arriving in Moscow to take up a new job, but with nowhere to stay, Volodya looks up his old army buddy Kolya. Kolya offers him the sofa in the tiny one-room flat he shares with his wife Lyuda, only to have his generosity betrayed a while later when he is away on a business trip. When he returns home, Volodya has moved into the bed, and it’s Kolya’s turn on the sofa. But how satisfactory is this arrangement for Lydua? Has she perhaps only acquired two husbands to cook and clean for?
Once believed lost, the film was rediscovered in the 1970s and has since become regarded as a Russian masterpiece of the silent era, notable for its unusual frankness, naturalistic performances and sympathetic female character.

Robert Wiene's classic 1920's psychological thriller is set to Karl Bartos' (ex-Kraftwerk) haunting narrative film music and sound design.
The original, long lost, orchestral soundtrack (Giuseppe Becce) has given way to an immersive listening experience. Special sound effects match the action as we enter the film as both spectator and participant. A creaking door, foot-steps on gravel, the turning of pages in a ledger, and a half-heard fragment of dialogue are seamlessly synchronised to the action on screen.
Composing on piano and computer, Bartos approached the task as would any earlier composer, painstakingly creating a score which was then electronically orchestrated with the help of his musical partner, sound engineer Mathias Black.
Beautifully restored by the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Foundation, experience a screening of The Cabinet of Dr Caligari set to Bartos' live film score.

On his ID card he is listed as Volker Bertelmann (Kreuztal, Germany, 1966), but in front of the piano he becomes Hauschka and reinvents the eighty-eight keys with an unbridled imagination to manipulate the sound with leather, felt or aluminium foil. Program Info: Cello duo Jaani Helander and Lukas Stasevskij play pop, rock and original soundtracks from games and movies on top of their own original compositions.
Cellomania is a duo consisting of top Finnish cellists Jaani Helander and Lukas Stasevskij, who play not only their own original compositions, but also covers of pop and rock songs, as well as original soundtracks from games and movies. The duo’s energetic performances have captured the imaginations of audiences since 2019, when the two friends from Sibelius Academy decided to test the limits of their cello skills by composing arrangements of their favourite pieces of music across all genres.
Over the course of just a few years, the project has expanded, and the duo will soon be joined at Tampere Hall’s Small Auditorium by Petteri Mäkiniemi, designer of the Ginette, and electronic musician Tuomas Ahva. With all four artists combining forces to bring us Helander’s composition Towards the New Horizon, audiences are in for a musical firework show and a unique experience that cannot be found anywhere else.

The music for the film "Chłopi" is created by Łukasz LUC Rostkowski, a young composer and producer, winner of many awards. His projects, combining music with history, have gained recognition, including: in cooperation with the Warsaw Uprising Museum, ECS, IPN, Pilecki Institute and many other institutions in Poland and around the world. Rostkowski creates a new form of multimedia historical lessons, combining art with education, music with comics and animations.
The soundtrack to the film "Chłopi" is based on traditional Polish sounds and authentic folk instruments. Just as Reymont used simple peasant language to create a colorful baroque verbal cathedral, Rostkowski strives to create beautiful film music based on authentic sounds of folk instruments, compositions and traditional themes. Modernity manifests itself only in thinking about forms and arrangements. One person who has dealt particularly intensively with this milestone in the history of expressionist film is the composer and musician Karl Bartos - better known to many as a long-time band member and co-composer of Kraftwerk. Karl Bartos, a classically trained musician, has had a passion for this German silent film for almost 20 years. Now he has created a new, experimentally interpreted sound for the film. This new film music will premiere at the Alte Oper Frankfurt in February 2024. The digitally restored film version in 4K resolution meets Karl Bartos' film music, which he live on stage with his partner Mathias Black . plays and controls
Bartos is guided by the rhythm and tempo of the scenes. The most important means of expression for him was the timeless sound of the symphony orchestra, of course synthetically produced and electronically modulated. We hear melodies in the Bachian tradition of the Baroque era and the early Romanticism of Mozart, we hear the dissonances of Arnold Schönberg, the disturbing metrical playing of Stravinsky and Philip Glass' harsh dramatic repetitions. Outside of the classical tradition, there are the folksy bricolage sounds of the fairground barrel organ, lapel tape effects, and sounds that would fit right in with a classic-era Kraftwerk album.

The original film with live orchestra Who doesn't know the theme song of the Christmas classic “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” ? For over 50 years, the fairytale heroine has been riding dreamily on her gray horse Santa Claus through snow-covered landscapes, delighting generations of viewers. Cinderella takes her fate into her own hands, fights for great happiness and shows the prince exactly where to go right from the first encounter in the forest. Headstrong and with his heart in the right place - that's what defines the film to this day. Since its first broadcast in 1973, the light-hearted film fairy tale with its snowy backdrop and wintry-romantic atmosphere has been an integral part of the Christmas program. This cinematic Christmas miracle is due to strange circumstances: the original script called for Cinderella to run across “blooming meadows”; But because the film studios for the Czech-German co-production were already scheduled for the summer, the director left Václav Vorlíček simply moved the story to winter.
Once again, the beautiful Cinderella and her prince can look forward to a very special stage: For several years now, “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” has regularly sold out concert halls at Christmas time in German-speaking countries, whose podiums are transformed into the setting for the enchanting love story. While the fairytale film plays on a large screen, the film soundtrack by Karel Svoboda is played live by the Prague Royal Philharmonic under the direction of Heiko Mathias Förster and synchronized scene by scene with the romantic and funny adventures. Shortly after the Cinderella soundtrack, Svoboda received his first orders from the West and his theme tunes for animated films such as “Maya the Bee”, “Wickie” and “Nils Holgersson” were created. But only the enchanting melody to which the princess races through the snow on her white horse can evoke such blissful feelings of happiness in the audience.

The concert tour’s precursor The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration first wowed audiences in Germany in 2018 and has since been on a triumphal march around the world. Hans Zimmer himself will not appear live on stage in The World of Hans Zimmer – A New Dimension but will function as the show’s curator and musical director. What happens if we bring not only music but also gameplay to the concert hall? In Games in Concert, the audience plays a specially designed game and thus determines 'The Score': the music that the orchestra plays. The result is a new and hilarious concert experience, in which audience and orchestra work together.

The Reykjavik Big Band plays the Silfurberg hall at Harpa, concert house on Sunday April 21. With this concerts the band pays tribute to Henry Mancini, one of the most famous and beloved film composers. He would have reached his 100th birthday on April 16th. Released in 1967, The Jungle Book is the last film produced by Walt Disney. The animated musical classic is based on Rudyard Kipling’s novel of the same name and follows the story of Mowgli, a “man-cub” found in the jungle as an infant and raised by wolves, who is later guided by his wise protector, Bagheera the panther, on a journey to find a human village. Though he resists leaving the only home he’s ever known, along the way Mowgli befriends happy-go-luck Baloo the bear and encounters many colourful characters, including King Louie the orangutan leader of the monkeys, Kaa the trickster python, the ruthless tiger Shere Khan and the noble Colonel Hathi of the elephant patrol. “The Jungle Book” is a heartwarming tale that celebrates the true meaning of friendship. Celebrate 15 years of incredible music-making with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra for the 15-Year-Anniversary Festival! The Philharmonic ushers in the celebration with a variety of performances that will take place in Auditorium 3 at the Qatar National Convention Centre from 18-20 of April, showcasing the breadth and diversity of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Orchestra kicks off the 15-Year-Anniversary Festival by shining the spotlight on talented soloists of the Qatar Philharmonic. Usually, the focus of concerts is put upon the principal player from each orchestra section, however, during this concert we’re giving the opportunity to other magnificent performers within the Philharmonic. “O Fortuna!” – this call from the goddess of fate opens the great cantata “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff, one of the most successful choral works in music history. The most beautiful fairy tale film of the 20th century with a live soundtrack
Once again, the beautiful Cinderella and her prince can look forward to a very special stage: For several years now, “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella” has regularly sold out concert halls at Christmas time in German-speaking countries, whose podiums are transformed into the setting for the enchanting love story. While the fairytale film unfolds on a large screen, the film soundtrack by Karel Svoboda is played live by a large symphony orchestra and synchronized scene by scene with the romantic and funny adventures. Shortly after the Cinderella soundtrack, Svoboda received his first orders from the West and his theme tunes for animated films such as “Maya the Bee”, “Wickie” and “Nils Holgersson” were created. But only the enchanting melody to which the princess races through the snow on her white horse can evoke such blissful feelings of happiness in the audience.

Following on from the critically acclaimed and successful Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II Live in Concert arena tours, the much-anticipated Planet Earth III Live in Concert will include specially selected breath-taking footage from the latest sensational television series produced by the multi-award-winning BBC Studios Natural History Unit will be shown in 4K ultra high definition on a gigantic LED screen. Playing alongside, the concert will feature the remarkable music score by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and Sara Barone for Bleeding Fingers Music, performed by the fabulous City of Prague Philharmonic orchestra.
Hans Zimmer and his team at Bleeding Fingers also worked in collaboration with Brit-winning and Grammy-nominated band Bastille for the music score and Mercury Prize Award nominated singer-songwriter RAYE.
Hans Zimmer commented: “Creating scores for any of the BBC's Natural History series is always an honour for me as there are no more epic stories than those occurring naturally every day in our own planet’s ecosystem. The European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO) has been bringing together the best young talent from all EU member states for almost 50 years. Its 120 or so members are between 16 and 26 years old and are selected from a huge number of applicants every year. Most of them go on to pursue a professional career, and there is hardly a European orchestra that does not include former EUYO graduates. Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide serves as a kind of introduction to the current class, taking us through the orchestra and introducing us to each of the instrument groups — an entertaining entry point to the world of classical music (and not only for young listeners). Richard Strauss meanwhile translates the adventures of Don Quixote (represented by the solo cellist) into music in remarkably vivid ways. During the fight with the herd of sheep, the woodwinds are heard to bleat cheerfully, while a wind machine is used to depict the sorrowful knight’s ride through the air. But this youth orchestra also has music by a young composer in its repertoire: an effective piece by US composer Carlos Simon from 2020, which features powerful brass interjections and a voluptuous cello melody.

We invite you to a great concert crowning the jubilee artistic season, in which we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra and the 70th anniversary of the institution itself. A world-class star is a must during such a concert. On this special evening you will hear one of the greatest saxophonists of all time. Branford Marsalis, winner of three Grammy awards, will perform with our Orchestra in the golden hall of the Szczecin Philharmonic. But this concert will be particularly important for another reason as well. Maestro Rune Bergmann, will stand in front of the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra for the last time as its artistic director and chief conductor. He has held these positions for the last eight years (since 2016).
What's in the program? The concert will begin with the Fanfare For The Common Man by Aaron Copland (1900 – 1990) – widely considered the forerunner and father of modern American classical music. The composer took the title from the words of Henry Wallace, vice president of the USA during the third term of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He called the 20th century the century of the common man. Right after its premiere in 1943, Copland's work was hailed by Leonard Bernstein as the greatest hit in the world.

BBC Studios and FKP Scorpio UK are delighted to announce that Planet Earth III Live in Concert is set to thrill UK audiences with three special performances at London Wembley OVO Arena and Manchester AO Arena in October 2024.
Following on from the critically acclaimed and successful Blue Planet II and Planet Earth II Live in Concert arena tours, the much-anticipated Planet Earth III Live in Concert will include specially selected breath-taking footage from the latest sensational television series produced by the multi-award-winning BBC Studios Natural History Unit will be shown in 4K ultra high definition on a gigantic LED screen. Playing alongside, the concert will feature the remarkable music score by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and Sara Barone for Bleeding Fingers Music, performed by the fabulous City of Prague Philharmonic orchestra.
Hans Zimmer and his team at Bleeding Fingers also worked in collaboration with Brit-winning and Grammy-nominated band Bastille for the music score and Mercury Prize Award nominated singer-songwriter RAYE.
Hans Zimmer commented: “Creating scores for any of the BBC's Natural History series is always an honour for me as there are no more epic stories than those occurring naturally every day in our own planet’s ecosystem. For Planet Earth III it’s been a further privilege to work with the incredible world class talents of Bastille who created wonderful vocals on the soundscape for the series, and RAYE with her a beautiful, poignant prequal track”.
This ultimate concert experience will take audiences across every corner of the planet from deserts and grasslands, through forests, along coastlines and into the depths of the ocean, with extraordinary stories of animal dramas that are thrilling, funny and sometimes heart-breaking. As always, the natural world continues to surprise, and this concert will show how animals are adapting in extraordinary ways to survive new challenges faced at this crucial time in history where humans play a central role.
The series itself was filmed over 1,904 days, in 43 countries and across six continents.
